Qi Gong helps Cessnock woman's cancer battle
Said she had an average of two to three years to live, Sam Aulton has turned his life around and hopes to help others in the same way.Achievement of a metastatic breast cancer in February, the cancer had spread to the spine and possibly his lungs, and doctors had little hope for survival.
Determined not to abandon the woman Cessnock decided to make some changes in his lifestyle, and hopes to beat the odds.
"Averages do not have to relate to everyone and the law of averages does not mean that everyone will be sentenced this result ... but it gave me the impetus I needed to change my habits and change my potential outcome, "said Sat
With many things to live, including girls Maggie (six) and Ruby (three), Sam turned to alternative therapies, with promising results.
One of these therapies is Qi Gong (pronounced chi gung), in the form of Chinese exercise that uses breathing and meditation to improve and treat the disease.
"I'm doing something different, but it (Qi Gong) feels really good, and I want to share with people," says Sat
Sam took Qi Gong in March and a lung scan in May revealed no evidence of cancer. Cancer also appears to have stopped spreading around his bones.
Although doctors would not confirm if the cancer had spread to his lungs, Sam contracted pneumonia twice around Christmas time last year and cancer could be the cause.
Sam said she feels "lucky" to have had pneumonia, and doctors may not have discovered the cancer.
It is the second battle of Sam with the disease - she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, just two weeks after his 30th birthday.
But she was still shocked to have cancer again.
"After five years, they say 'congratulations'," she said.
Sat underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone 11 years ago. She was offered hormone treatment, this time, but he refused.
"Knowing that he had not recovered 11 years ago why would it heal me now?" She said.
"I had already had two years of Zoladex hormone therapy to 31 years who put me in menopause and caused osteopeonia.
"They also said radiation could be of help, but would only reduce the tumor will not cure the root cause, so I thought again" no "- I need a cure.
