More should participate in Flag Day
To The Editor:
After reading the article "Brown wants all U.S. flags bought by government to be made in America" (June 14), I began to think about how the symbol of our country is made and distributed from other countries. I agree that American flags purchased by the American government should be made in America.
I feel that a country should take pride in making its own flags. After reading this article, I also noticed that this was one of the few mentions of flags on Flag Day. I assisted one of my fellow colleagues in setting up flags around downtown for part of his Eagle Scout project. I saw that many businesses did not have flags out for the holiday, unless they were ones that we put up.
I have never seen people widely celebrate Flag Day, so I think that it would be nice if every building could make an attempt to post flags to honor the day that our country adopted this symbol.
