Texas Instruments' TI-Nspire Technology Helps Spark Students' Interest in Physics

Lab Cradle and the new Vernier DataQuest™ application for TI-Nspire to create a powerful physics solution in the classroom and in the lab. More than 60 data collection sensors by Vernier Software & Technology and TI are compatible with TI-Nspire technology.

"The TI-Nspire Lab Station creates a single, integrated learning system that opens up the world of physics for students with classroom lessons, lab experiments and field study," Archer said. "The TI-Nspire CX handheld's full-color display and its ability to display color graphics, photographs, animations and simulations give educators more options than ever before to create interactive lessons for physics."

Using the tools that make up the customizable TI-Nspire data collection solution, teachers can create inquiry-based labs and experiments for physics class to help students interact with the lessons. Concepts from gravity and motion to properties of heat, light and sound as well as electricity and magnetism can be explored with temperature and light sensors, motion and photogate sensors, accelerometers, gas pressure probes, and electricity and magnetic field sensors.

Training AIMS to improve classrooms

Second grade deals with sound. With AIMS, physics starts in second grade so those teachers could get a “Primarily Physics” book. “We're learning different ways to teach vibration and sound. We just made guitars and talked about how you can change pitch

Measuring certainty in quantum physics world
Measuring certainty in quantum physics world

by Staff Writers Quantum mechanics is famous for saying that a tree falling in a forest when there's no one there doesn't make a sound. Quantum mechanics also says that if anyone is listening, it interferes with and changes the tree.

Precious Metals Continue to Lead Asset Markets

My physics lab -- pure fun, but also the highest risk, highest payoff out there if I get to practical fusion, so a big maybe, but again - it's fun, and I know all too many people with a lot more money who are quite poor in fun compared to me -- measure

Warm Up Questions:

1. A 2 meter long slinky is held at each end by Caroline & Tori while they make standing waves. If the speed of the wave traveling through the slinky is 7m/s, determine the frequencies of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd harmonics.

2. A clarinet (open-closed tube) has a length of 60cm. Determine the fundamental frequency (first harmonic) for the clarinet if the speed of sound is 340m/s.
