Meyers signs with North Idaho College
Billings Skyview graduate Amber Meyers said she has signed a letter of intent to play softball at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene.
Meyers, a center fielder, batted .419 and hit 11 home runs to go along with 40 RBIs to help the Falcons to a 16-11 record. Her homer and RBI totals are school records.
"I chose NIC because they have an amazing softball program and a great coach," Meyers told The Gazette. "Coach (Don Don) Williams and the team made me feel right at home during my visit."
Due to a longtime shoulder injury, Meyers had little hope of continuing her softball career beyond high school. But the first-team all-stater said she'll continue to rehab and strengthen her shoulder and hopes to be "100 percent by the fall."
"I decided to continue with my softball career despite my shoulder injury because sports have always been a huge part of me and I can't imagine not having it in my life anymore," Meyers said.
Former Roundup and Montana State standout Kandice Kelly is the head volleyball coach at NIC.

Four students from Skyview High School escaped serious injury this morning when the SUV they were traveling in flipped and rolled on Northwest 36th Avenue near Creekside Drive in Vancouver.
Dawn Johnson, a spokeswoman for Clark County Fire District No. 6, said four teenagers—three girls and one boy—were on their way to school when the SUV’s driver said she swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle that had veered into her lane. The driver then said she hit a pothole and lost control of the SUV.
Johnson said the SUV hit a guardrail and then flipped over and down a 50-foot embankment, landing upright. All four students were out the SUV when police and firefighters arrived
Two of the girls were taken by ambulance to Southwest Washington Medical Center to be treated for back pain. The other passenger and the driver were picked up by their parents.
All four teenagers were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
