Busy weekend in Knoxville

A weekend full of events in Knoxville kicks off Friday night with a cruise around the square at 5 p.m. The cruise is a lead-in to tonight’s Graffitti Night, sponsored by the Draggins Car Club and the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.
Graffitti Night will include a car show, live music by the T-Bones, door prizes and other giveaways, as well as automotive challenges and games. Food will also be available. The event will take place Friday from 6-10 p.m.
Saturday morning, Ridiculous Days will return downtown. The event is nostalgic of Knoxville, when downtown shopping was a weekly event.
“I’m excited about it,” Chamber Executive Director Aanna Hoch said.
Ridiculous Day will coincide with the Farmers’ Market, held from 8 a.m.-noon. Art in the Market this week will feature pottery by Brian Barkey and music by the Kimball Drifters. The Mayor’s Youth Council will sponsor sidewalk chalk art at 9 a.m. Children will also be able to create art with sand. Finally, the Knoxville Fire Department has organized water fights downtown, beginning at 11 a.m.
Activity is going on off the square as well. The annual Family Fun Fair will be held at Auld Park from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This will include free hot dogs, games and an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Weekend activities kick off this afternoon with the Ridiculous Days sales event. Businesses across town will be slashing prices and having sales. It continues this evening with Graffiti Night, hosted by the Knoxville Draggins Club. Saturday morning, things start with a 5k, co-sponsored by Knoxville Hospital & Clinics and the Knoxville Recreation Center. The Ridiculous Days sales event continues, and the Knoxville Fire Department will host water fights starting at 11. There will also be activities on the Square, including the farmer’s market. The Red Rock Arts Alliance will provide some entertainment, including Brian Barkey Pottery, music from the Kimball Drifters, and sand art creations for kids. The Mayor’s Youth Council will be hosting sidewalk chalk drawing. At Auld Park, the 19thannual Family Fun Fair will be going on from 9:30-12:30. Saturday night is race night at the Knoxville Raceway, with hot laps starting at 6:45.
