Throughout June, Scottsdale Fire Department will be offering free Hands-Only CPR classes.
Hands-Only CPR is a new technique that is simple and safe to do. There is no mouth-to-mouth contact but Hands-Only CPR can dramatically increase a person's chance of survival. The technique works on the principal that there is 10 minutes worth of oxygen in the person's system, you just have to keep the blood flowing to the heart and the brain to save their life.
Scottsdale Fire Department staff and volunteers will teach participants to react to a cardiac emergency. They emphasize calling 911 and giving the operator as much information as possible, followed by chest compressions. Individuals will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to shock the heart.
Since June of 2008 more than 7,000 people have received this training from Scottsdale Fire Department. With this simple, safe technique you cold save the life of a loved one, a co-worker or a perfect stranger.

Emergency management department : Some counties have this as part of the fire department, some have a separate emergency management department which includes the paramedics and emergency medical response team. They offer free full schedule class or sidewalk classes.
Local hospitals : Most hospitals offer free CPR training as part of parenting classes. A lot of them offer it for a small fee, but during special occasions like the National CPR week, hospitals offer free CPR/AED classes supported by American Heart Association(AHA).
