Also: Gato Loco Coconino, one of the bands playing Beacon Riverfest, traces its name to the loft in Tribeca where the ensemble rehearses: "When we got the space in Tribeca, the lady that is the equivalent of a super, an old Spanish woman, she said the place was haunted by a dead cat — a ghost cat," said Gato Loco guitarist Clifton Hyde. The woman told the band members to watch out for the "gato loco." But, Hyde continued, "We don't talk about the cat. It's an old creaky building with lots of strange sounds emanating from it. There are a lot of things we could attribute to el gato loco."
• Rock Band Boot Camp is a partnership between Local 845, which is staging Riverfest, and the City of Beacon Department of Recreation that, according to www.beaconriverfest.com, is "a fun and inspiring workshop where students learn how to work together and play as a rock band. Sessions are offered to teens and adults year round." The spring 2011 session of Rock Band Boot Camp, which ended June 16, will culminate in a performance at Riverfest.

According to the band's website, www.gatolocomusica.com , this "Steampunk mambo band" plays a live show that "delivers an instant party, filled with celebration and joy; like a decadent latin mambo ballroom, thrown in the midst of a 21st-century rock show: this is BIG music ... the group takes its cues from scratchy pre-war Cuban records and vintage betty boop cartoons. ... Incorporating equal parts latin, rock and jazz, Gato Loco is not genre music. It is tightly written, thrilling and confusing, killing boredom with thought, with passion, with power. Mysterious, yes. Ambiguous, no.

Cee-Lo Green Interviews Lupe Fiasco | stupidDOPE.com

Lupe Fiasco sat down with Cee-Lo Green to explain the “face value” of understanding the straightforwardness of his intricacy on “Talking to Strangers.” Defining his moral principle as justice for perseverance as “one of nine children,” Lupe Fiasco honors the worth of his substantial essence to his parents. He knew at a young age that he was not only “born a black man in American” but “born political.” He knew that he would face discrimination for employing his right to speak freely as his Father was a Black Panther. There is no doubt that Lupe Fiasco is “high off life.” He refuses to “go crazy trying” to “figure out” the worth of priceless knowledge that he learned during his childhood & asserts as an adult.

When Cee-Lo asks him about his musical influences, Lupe Fiasco points out the fact that his Father’s intrinsic purpose for playing NWA was for him to grasp the “expression” more than the content. He informs Cee-Lo that Nas is his muse & inspiration. The “well-rounded” artist speaks on his rock band Japanese Cartoon, which allows him “to go into another world.” Japanese Cartoon gives Lupe permission to offer “pure expression,” which is prevalent to him as an artist outside of hip/hop & an individual.

Also, Lupe Fiasco performed “Out of My Head”, “The Show Goes On” & Daydreamin’.” “Talking to Strangers” is Cee-Lo’s new talk show that airs on the Fuse network.
