Alto Flute Head Joint – Curved or Straight? | Flutes For All
@gl0gg It has been many years since I have played a Gemeinhardt I thought was okay. At the last NFA convention, I did test a Gemeinhardt alto that was acceptable, but the straight head model only- I didn’t like the curved head. I have been trying altos for 15 years and this is only the second time I have liked a Gemeinhardt. This was only one Gemeinhardt out of 3 or 4 others I tried and didn’t like.
Neither of these has been at a convention for me to try. I can’t recommend something I haven’t tried. Also, from reports I have had from the few people who have tried the Muramatsu, it’s too heavy to be useful. After 15-20 minutes the right hand is so fatigued you have to stop. This could lead to strain problems over the long haul.
