Mountain Dew Tour stops in Vegas
The extreme sports enthusiasts of all ages flooded the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino over the weekend, as they saw their favorite skaters, BMX bikers and motocross riders competing in the Dew Tour Championships.
Hundreds of crew members spent several days setting up a course of dirt on the north side of the hotel, a swimming pool green monster ramp Rehab, and a course in competitive skating full of Mountain Dew commercials the inside the joint.
Extreme sports icons like Shaun White, Paul Rodriguez, Bucky Lasek and Pierre-Luc Gagnon has appeared at the Dew Tour, and the fans were treated to four days of competition strong.
50 Cent made after the final of the SKB Street on Friday night inside the joint and the fans delivered in the international mix of skateboarding before the New York City rapper took the stage.
Ryan Decenzo from Vancouver shredded his way through the rest of the competition and won the Dew Cup after finishing with the most points during the season.
"It's an incredible feeling to capture the Dew Cup," said Decenzo."During the first stop I had a good start which was really good for me, and the second event that I had to skate with an injured ankle. But I knew I was in a really good and I ended up winning that was my best performance of the year. But it feels really good to be here and win. "
Decenzo, 25, also faced his younger brother, Scott, 22, rue de Skateboarding competition. Decenzo said that getting to compete with his younger brother, who finished seventh in the Dew Tour was a good thing for both of them.
"It's great to arrive to compete with my brother," said Decenzo."I feel at home to skate with him. We can push each other and it is easier to perform well."
Decenzo beat Rodriguez fan-favorite for the Dew Cup, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin., Native Greg Lutzke finished third overall.
"It's great to be in Las Vegas," said Lutzker. "It was another great year and I'm happy for Ryan to win the cup. For now it's just keep working, traveling and having of pleasure. "
Decenzo finished with a final score of 90.28, winning a five point lead over second place Alec Majerus of Rochester, Minnesota
Majerus, 16, was the youngest skater in the competition.
International stars such as Danilo Do Rosario Brazil, Mario Saenz Mexico and Argentina Milton Martinez gave the crowd plenty to celebrate as they have each used their own distinct styles to get people on their feet.
